Above-ground fire hydrants
We offer a wide range of above-ground fire hydrants characterised by a high level of safety.
AVK series 84 above-ground fire hydrants with unique features
Predetermined breaking point
The specially designed and predetermined breaking point leaves both the fire hydrant and the pipeline undamaged in case of an accidental traffic knock down. The connection between upper and lower barrels allow for a 360° rotation of the upper barrel including the fire hydrant head. The flanges are assembled with special titanium bushes designed to break if something hits the fire hydrant.
The gear is placed below the breaking point and the above-ground fire hydrant is equipped with an additional ball shut-off. This makes it easy to disassemble the upper barrel parts and change the operation pipe under full operating pressure.
Optimal sealing
The valve cone of all AVK above-ground fire hydrants is completely vulcanized with polyurethane (PUR). The high quality of this elastomer ensures an optimal sealing due to its unique memory effect.
Protected signal colour
AVK above-ground fire hydrants are as standard coated with epoxy resin powder according to GSK guidelines, and due to an additional UV resistant layer of polyester, you will not lose the important signal colour, even after years.
The standard colour of AVK above-ground fire hydrants is RAL 3000 red. We can also meet your individual colour requirements if e.g. the fire hydrant is to indicate the type of supply line. For contact with aggressive media such as road salt, the fire hydrants are available with external enamel (blue or red) for additional robustness.

Digital monitoring of fire hydrants
Monitoring fire hydrants is a great way to detect tampering, making it easier to distinguish between real water loss and necessary use of water.
VIDI Cap is a battery-operated smart hydrant cap to be installed on fire hydrants with a threaded Storz B outlet. It provides valuable insights into the use of hydrants by detecting any operation of the cap and wirelessly transmitting data to AVK Smart Water’s dedicated software platform VIDI Cloud or to any preferred IT system. You will even get an immediate warning in case of a collision and in addition, monitoring fire hydrants can help to control the risk of contamination.
